The Outstanding Mechanical Installation (OMI) Awards are back for 2024. Chosen and awarded by the Mechanical Contractors Association 鈥 Kansas City, the OMI awards recognize outstanding mechanical projects completed in 2022-23, honoring and promoting quality workmanship in the mechanical trade.

These projects showcase the best in Kansas City 鈥 innovative projects and the best quality workmanship. 最新麻豆原创 Construction had some tough competition in the 鈥淗VAC Piping Over $5M鈥 category, including:

  • Kansas City International Airport New Single-Terminal/U.S. Engineering Construction
  • Kansas City Zoo Sobela Ocean Aquarium/MMC Contractors
  • Three Light Tower/Alexander Mechanical, Inc.

最新麻豆原创 took home the award for our work on the Garmin 鈥 Building 3 Renovation.

This isn鈥檛 the first time 最新麻豆原创鈥檚 work at Garmin earned an OMI award 鈥 最新麻豆原创 won the award in 2019 for the Garmin New Warehouse project in the 鈥淧lumbing Over $2M鈥 category.

Although the project was officially called a renovation, Senior Project Manager Jason Quattlebaum says the real challenge of the project was that 最新麻豆原创 essentially built a building inside of an existing building.

鈥淭he project we completed was named 鈥淕armin 鈥 Building 3 Renovation鈥 and consisted of constructing a three-story office facility inside of the existing building that was previously the old warehouse space,鈥 Jason explained.

personnel from 最新麻豆原创 and MCAKC accepting the OMI award鈥淲e originally built Building 5, completed back in 2018, which became Garmin鈥檚 new warehouse. Once completed, that warehouse, which was in Building 3, was relocated to Building 5.鈥

Due to the complexity and challenges of the Garmin project, Jason says the efficiency of all 最新麻豆原创 teams involved was not only critical, but truly impressive. VDC set the pace, while fabrication kept it going, and the field executed flawless install.

鈥淥verall, it was a great project and the full credit goes to the staff - not just piping, but the entire staff - from the VDC department, to the fab shop, warehouse, and the field staff,鈥 Jason said. 鈥淚t truly was a team effort across the board.鈥
